The Rascals were formed in September 2006 by members of the now defunct band The Little Flames and now consists of Miles Kane, Joe Edwards and Greg Mighall.
They signed with Deltasonic Records, home to fellow Scouse artists The Coral and The Zutons, and made their debut performance in June 2007 supporting the Arctic Monkeys at the Cardiff International Arena.
Debut EP Out Of Dreams
The bands debut EP Out of Dreams was released on 9 December 2007 as a limited edition CD release.
The EP was not a big enough release for it to chart but just two months later the band released their next single Suspicious Wit containing three new compositions.
However the bands biggest release came in June 2008 with the debut album Rascalize. The record was released initially on iTunes on 15 June with the CD release appearing on 23 June 2008.
The album charted at #100 in the UK album chart with the first single from the album, Freakbeat Phantom (released 16 June 2008), representing a track that is perhaps not the most obvious single from the album but does give an excellent account of where the band clearly where at this time.
2009 brought a movie appearance as the band featured in the British film Awaydays, in which the band play the Echo and the Bunnymen song All That Jazz with the recording also featured on the soundtrack to the film released 22 May 2009.
The Last Shadow Puppets
Meanwhile Miles Kane, who had struck up a friendship with Alex Turner of the Arctic Monkeys while jamming together back stage, began to write songs together and they soon formed a new band called The Last Shadow Puppets.
The Last Shadow Puppets debut album Age of the Understatement, hit #1 spot in the UK and after seeing out the final dates of The UK tour, Kane announced that he was leaving the band.
Initially the remaining duo Edwards and Mighall announced their intention to find another singer but the band have never actually played another live date.
Miles Kane gone solo
Miles Kane, now signed to Columbia Records, is currently working on a solo album which is due for release 9 May 2011 and has announced dates supporting Liam Gallaghers new band Beady Eye and the Arctic Monkeys.
